Community is and always will be the heart and soul of the Brookfield Academy for Mini Musicians.
What a rollercoaster these last two years have been. When I closed my studio doors on March 17th, 2020, I'm so glad I didn't know then that they wouldn't reopen for almost 2 years. But I feel more confident than ever that we are coming back even stronger than we were back in 2020.
I’ve made some exciting new changes, but one thing that will never change is that community is and always will be the heart and soul of the Brookfield Academy for Mini Musicians. But those are just words. What do I actually mean by that? Having been in business for over 11 years now, I can joyfully share that real, genuine, lasting friendships are made within our classes. Friendships among adults, friendships among children, friendships between teachers and parents, and of course, a genuine connection between teachers and their young students.
I learned early on that it's not enough just to put moms / dads and kids in a room for a class together and hope they make friends with each other. Someone needs to "break the ice." So we start each class with a short opportunity for caregivers to chat and for children to ease into the classroom setting. And if new families join a class, we always start that day's class with a round of introductions.
Often, within just a few short weeks, parents and caregivers are looking forward to the class as much as their little ones because they too have made friends. One of my favorite things is to run into families at the Brookfield Zoo, Kiwanis Park concerts, or Zoo City Treats and hear that they met in my classes years ago. This brings me more joy than I can express.
We have such fantastic new and returning teachers!
Among the five smiling faces you see above, we have a combined 7 undergraduate and graduate degrees ranging from theater to early childhood education to music therapy, decades of music teaching experience, two early childhood YouTube channels, and countless theatrical performances.
But most importantly, they each LOVE making music with little ones and can't wait to share their joy with you and your family. Click here to learn more about each of our teachers! And for those of you who have been in our community for awhile, you have likely noticed that Ms. Amy is not pictured above. After 8 wonderful years as a hugely-loved music teacher and exceptional registration manager, she has moved on to a full-time teaching position. We wish her the absolute best and will truly miss her.
Classes return March 1st!
We cannot wait to share our love of music with your little ones each week starting March 1st! Our classes are offered year-round on a month-to-month basis with no semester minimums. You have nothing to lose and SO much joy, love, and laughter to gain! We can’t wait to welcome you to our musical community!
